it's easy for sharing 4 electron then to loose it and due to small in size and catenation property it forms covalent bond.
they don't have free electron so these make them as poor conductor of electricity.
and due to covalent bond their melting point and boiling point increases.

becose it could gain four electron forming c4+ anions .but it would difficult for a nucleus to hold on ten electron with six proton
2-it could loose four electrons by forming c4+cations but it would require alarge no enery to remove four electrons leaving behind a carbon cation with six protonin its nucelus on holding on just two electrons

II. Simple Covalent compounds have low melting points because they have less weak intermolecular forces between bonds, and this means that less energy/temperature is needed to break the bonds so a lower melting point is needed to break the bonds and melt the covalent compound.
