There're 2 methods of doin'this.......First is hit and trial method which you can easily understand by reading the NCERT.....Another is the method........In which first we see the biggest molecule and try to balance it......For example......Fe2O3 + C------------>Fe+ CO2Now you can see that this equation is not balanced......So now We will balance it by second method........See....LHS has 3 molecules of oxygen while RHS has only 2So we will multiply (Fe2O3) by 2 and (CO2) by 3Now oxygen is balanced.....both side 6 oxygen...2(Fe2 O3) + C------------>Fe+ 3(CO2)Now Fe in LHS is 4 so we write 4 Fe at RHS2(Fe2O3) + C-------------> 4Fe + 3(CO2)Now you can see C at RHS has a value of 3 So in LHS also 3C2(Fe2O3) + 3C------------> 4Fe + 3(CO2)Balanced!!!!!!
Whoa!!!
You know there's one more method........ and that's also an easier one
But now I got so much tired by typing;-) so will tell you that later......
Hope it helps!!!!
