ACCORDING TO MY OBSERVATION,
HYDROGEN IS AN EXCEPTIONAL ELEMENT IN THE PERIODIC TABLE.
HYDROGEN IS A HALOGEN AS WELL AS ALKALI METAL.
THAT IS WHY HYDROGEN IS PLACED IN THE GROUP OF ALKALI BUT ALSO IS GIVEN THE COLOUR OF HALOGEN FAMILY (refer coloured periodic table if you did not understand)
HYDROGEN HAS THE PROPERTIES OF BOTH HALOGENS AND ALKALI METALS.
FOR EXAMPLE:
THE MOLECULAR FORMULA OF HYDROGEN IS H2 WHILE THE MOLECULAR FORMULA OF FLOURINE AND CCHLORINE ARE F2 AND Cl2 RESPECTIVELY.
HOPE IT HELPS..☺
