can anyone tell me that we know that light travels in a straight line then how refraction takes place as refraction happens when ray of light bends its path.

Refraction is phenomenon which takes place when light travels from one medium to another medium.Since diffrent medium have different composition ie density so the speed of light varies in different medium which causes the light to bend .

We know that when light travels from a medium to another medium it usually changes its path,When ray of light , Passes throught denser medium to rarer medium then it bends away from normal and when travel from rare medium from denser medium ,it close to to the normal,And we all know that refraction means when ray of light bend its path then u can understand simply
