can chloromethane be oxidised to get chlorine

JinKazama1: Whether you want direct conversion or two continuus reactions are OK
rik21: two continuous reactions
JinKazama1: yes,
rik21: plz do
JinKazama1: We can but What about efficiency of reaction?
rik21: can u give this answer
rik21: with proper explanation
JinKazama1: yes

Beware :I didn't Oxidized ChloroMethane, substance getting oxidising is different that is Hydrogen.
And There is no reaction in which you can oxidize chloromethane to obtain Elemental Chlorine.
That why to obtain Chlorine, I oxidized Hydrogen in Electrolysis.

Yes, we obtain Chlorine from ChloroMethane but that will be carried out by two step reactions.

Steps :
1) ChloroMethane will undergo SN2 Reaction in NaI/ acetone as Solvent.
This will obtain NaCl as inorganic product as PPT.

2) Then, we will produce Elemental Chlorine by electrolysis of NaCl Brine Solution
For Reactions see pic.
