Question:

____________

( it looks like the question is incomplete hence something is added here but this will not bring any chance in the answer and explanation )

Pipe A can fill an empty tank in 9 hours while Pipe B can empty the full tank in 10 hours. If both are opened together in the empty tank, how much time they will take to fill it up completely.

Answer:

__________

90 hours

Explanation:

_______________

Pipe A can fill an empty tank in 9 hours.

Pipe B can empty the full tank in 10 hours.

Hence,

In 1 hour, Pipe A can fill 1/9th part of the tank

In 1 hour, Pipe B can empty 1/10th part of the tank

Now,

In 1 hour, Both pipe can fill -

( 1/9 - 1/10 ) th part of the tank

( 10 - 9 / 90 ) th part of the tank

1/90 th part of the tank

Therefore,

Pipe A and B together can fill the tank in 90 hours.
