Can flowers and turmeric papers also be called indicators?why?

Yes, they can be called as indicators because they change color upon coming in contact with acids or base. flower petals when boiled give some solution.and when that solution gets a contact with an acid or base it turns its color out. turmeric paper also changes its color when bought near acidic or basic substances.
