can magnisium burn without oxyzen ?

To burn matter mainly of 1st and 2nd group elements oxygen is required can be burned. The process of burning in most conditions is known as oxidization.
Magnesium burns gives MgO2.

Some of the matter burns in presence of other elements rather than oxygen.
