can Mg+O2---->MgO be an example of oxidation.

Give 2 examples of reduction

Yes it is an example of oxidation reaction. Here Mg is oxidised from Mg to Mg2+.

Examples of reduction reaction
1) C + O2 –––> CO2
here oxygen is reduced from O to O2-

2) 2H + O2 –––> 2H2O
here also oxygen is reduced from O to O2-

AR17: oxidation and reduction occur simultaneously
AR17: in a reaction if one element or compound is oxidised then there must be one that gets reduced..... So the examples i gave has both oxidation and reduction
