If a same sound strikes solid surfaces multiple times, it may cause multiple reflection of the sound. e.g. In a stethoscope, the heart beat produces a sound which collides with the walls of the tube several times before reaching the ear piece attached to the ear of the listener.
This multiple reflection can cause a persistence, which is known as reverberation.

Yes, multiple echoes from a single sound can be produced. It is because sound when collide with multiple surfaces every surface produces echo by this way many echoes generate from a single voice.
For example in a hilly area if we speak a word loudly we will hear many echoes back after different intervals of time because sound bump back when it collides with different hills at different locations thus producing echoes differently from a single sound.
