the volume of a metallic bob of mass 700g is 350 cube cm.
1)find the density of the bob.
2)when immersed in water what weight of water will be displaced by the bob?

Since , Volume of bob = 350 cm ^3
And Mass of bob = 700 g

1. Density = Mass / Volume i.e. 700 / 350 i.e. 2 g / cm ^ 3

2. Since , the Archimedes' Principle states that the volume of body immersed in the liquid will displace the same amount that was immersed therefore the immersed part of the body will displace the same amount of liquid as immersed.

HOPE YOU GOT IT...

rony123: what is the weight, can you write it also
Anonymous: Ya Sure..
Anonymous: The mass will be the weight I guess therefore weight = 700 gm
thermological: Mass is not weight.
thermological: Mass x g = weight
thermological: Weight displaced will be 0.7x9.81 = 6.867N

Given,

Volume of the metallic bob = 350cm^3

Mass = 700g

We know,

1)Density=Mass/ Volume

So, Density = 700/ 350

Or, Density =2g/cm^3

The density of the bob is 2g/cm^3

2)

According to Archimedes law,

Weight of the displaced water is the same as weight of the bob.

So,

The weight of the displaced water = mg [ g = 9.8m/s^2 and m is the mass]

So, The weight of the displaced water = .7 × 9.8 [ as 700g = .7kg]

= 6.86 N

Hope it helps.

thermological: Your answer is completely wrong
Anonymous: The last line should be weight of the bob
Anonymous: I wrote the unit wrong...
thermological: Not weight.... Weight is mg....ull have to multiply mass with g
thermological: Yes u wrote the wrong unit!
Anonymous: I can't edit it...
Anonymous: But W = mg or W = Vdg as m = vd
thermological: Yes exactly..... 0.7x9.81
Anonymous: You will get the same answer it is in cgs unit
Anonymous: I corrected it
