Yes.. due to induction process the charged object Can attract a neutral object. Charge object in induces charge of opposite nature on a neutral object in a region in front of it and similar charges on other side of the object... Which is farther from the charged object.

Opposite charge is close to the charged object and thus the overall force of attraction acts between the two...

Similar charge is relatively far ...So the force of attraction on opposite charge is even more.
