Can someone explain me the khilafat movement in simple words?

when the khilifa of turkey was removed from his post by the British army, the Muslim became angry and decided to start a movement against the Britishers. the two Ali brothers were the makers of this and they joined hands with mahatma Gandhi to start up the movement. in 1916 the khilafat and non corporation movement started together.

The Khilafat movement(1919-1922)  was a pan Islamic political protest campaign which was launched by the Muslims of British Raj in order to influence the British Government not to abolish the Ottoman Caliphate.  During the world war 1 Turkey fought with Britain as the ally of Germany. As the turkey got defeated than the destruction of Khilafat was suggested. The Khilafat movement ended in 1924.
