(chapter-metals and non metals )- in terms of physical properties sodium is not hard as it can be cut with a knife easily , it is also not malleable, it is not strong , it is not lustrus , it has low strength , it is not ductile , not sonorous and not even a good conductor of heat , then how is it classified as a metal ?

This is because atomic number of sodium is 11.Thus its electronic configuration is 2,8,1. which means it can loose its 1 electron to form octate. So,it is classified as a metal.
