Explanation:

When current is passed through the circuit (the electric current passes from + to -) , it enters the tube from cathode. As the electric current enters, it gets attracted by the anode since the particle is negatively charged. So it moves towards anode. It can be detected by the fluorescent coating applied behind the anode ( when electron hits the coating, it glows at that particular place).
