the sun appears reddish in the morning due to atmospheric refraction.

in the morning time the sun is near the horizon and the light rays from the sun have to travel a longer distance to reach our eyes. and on travelling the light rays are refracted by the small particles that are present in our atmosphere (this includes : dust , mist , fog etc.) thus the other component colors of white light gets scattered and red with the highest wavelength reaches our eyes.

In the morning, Sun near the horizon is far away from us. So, light has to travel a longer distance through the atmosphere to reach our eyes . So, near the horizon most of the blue light would be scattered away. Therefore , the light that reaches our eyes would be red in colour. Hence, the sun appears red early in the morning.
