Wet litmus is nothing but the litmus which is kept in water.t Take about 1.0g of solid nacl.in a clean test tube.add some concentrated sulphuric acid.test the gas evolved successively with dry and wet blue litmus paper. You can conclude that dry HCl gas is not an avid because you have noticed that there is an acid because wet blue litmus paper turned into red.the HCl gas evolved at delivery tube dissociate in presence of water to produce hydrogen ions.in the absence of water dissociation of HCl molecules do not occur.
