can the sun in space collide with earth

Yes, it will collide but after 2 or 3 billions years. Because the Sun will become a Big red giant taking mercury, venus and earth inside it.

Well its gonna be super rare for something of that sort to happen..
Reason???

All the planets are having a particular orbit in which they move around the sun..
The earth being the 3rd planet in the solar system is also pretty far from sun making the chances really less for a collision...
