Sand is a solid that has the ability to be poured like a liquid and take the shape of its container. It is still a solid, as each individual grain of sand has a shape of its own and keeps that shape.

Sand is a solid since it has its definite shape and volume. But it can be like a liquid because—
1. When sand is poured from one container to another it takes the shape of that container.
2. But even though its volume remains same.
And we know that a liquid also possess these characteristics.
