Can u hold a hot metallic Pan which is Without Plastic or a wooden handle without getting hurt?why?

We are quiet aware that metals are good conductors of heat. So a metallic pan is hot while cooking. Therefore without a plastic or wooden handle that acts as an insulator may hurt us. Skin is one of our sense organs that can sense the temperature of the body in terms of hot and cold. So we feel hot whole touching a hot pan
