Can u please explain this: The longitudes are also called meridians of longitude. Meridian means midday. When the Sun is overhead at a certain longitude, it is midday or noon for that particular longitude. Thus, all the longitudes are known as meridians.

See the longitudes are spread from north pole to south pole, and they can be seen as lines which decide morning afternoon and evening. hence when the sun is towards any longitude it experiences afternoon
