The main two types of nerves are sensory nerves and motor nerves.
i) Sensory nerves are also called afferent nerves. They have long dendrites and a short axon. Their function is to carry information from sense organs to the central nervous system.
ii) Motor nerves are also called efferent nerves. They have short dendrite and long axons. Their function is to carry the information from the central nervous system to effector organs (muscles or glands).
