Can we burn a piece of wood by bringing a lighted matchstick near It ? Expain

I think we cannot do it because the match stick is too small for a Wood
if we pore kerosene on Wood and light the match stick it burns

If wood is heated a little,it does not catch fire because wood has a higher ignition temperature which is not reached by little heat being supplied to it by a matchstick.
