Yes as the magnitude of a curve can only be found by taking a tangent from any point to find the magnitude at that particular point on the curve...

No, you can't equate the both equations . Because a tangent is actually a straight line made on a particular point on a curve. As the equations of both the curve and the tangent will be different, they cannot be equated(=).
However, by differentiating the equation of the curve, and finding dy/dx , you can equate this to (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1) to get the equation of tangent.
