Can we give money on dhanteras?

No, according to Hindu rituals who believe in Hinduism never gives money to anyone on this auspicious day that is Dhanteras ,because people believe that giving money on this day will make them poor and on this day people pray to the goddess Lakshmi. In many part of the India on this day people buy broom and take it to their home.

• According to Hinduism, people believe that they will get bad luck to send money out of the house. On this day, people worship goddess Laxmi so they believe that they will become poor if they give money to others.

• Dhanteras is one of the days of the Diwali festival. It is the first day of the five days long festival of Diwali. Dhanteras is the day also known as Dhantrayodashi.

• On this day, Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during the churning of the milky sea.

• Lord Lakshmi and Lord Kubera who is the God of wealth are worshipped on this auspicious day of Trayodashi. After two days of Dhantrayodashi is considered as Diwali.

• Mostly, Hindus don't eat non-vegetarian on this day dhanteras. But, it depends on individuals.

• On this day, sweets like phirni, kheer, halwa are prepared by Hindu families.
