can we track a hard disk if it is lost

There are no special anti-theft or tracking capabilities on ordinary external hard drives. There is no way to detect if someone else is using the drive. Chances are the drive will be erased and sold. ... No way to get back stolen hard disk unless you have anti-theft or any GPS tracker attached to it.
