can we use a capacitor instead of a choke coil for reducing in a a,c circuite ?

I don't know the exact answer but I think that we can't use a capacitor instead of a choke coil because the capacitor can store some voltage while choke coil don't

Anonymous: because the average power dissipated per cycle in an ideal capacitor is also zero ...so we can use choke coil too ...
