Heya......
sodium carbonate some times known as washing soda has quite is quite alkaline and has a horrid soapy taste. It is not very palatable and could burn your throat. Bicarbonate is much gentler and not as strongly alkaline, and therefor more palatable. Calcium carbonate is also used as an antacid
