CH3COOH & C2H4O2 are isomers. Isomers are two or more components with same formula but a different arrangment of atoms in the molecule & have different properties. These isomers can differ in the position of the functional group or the arrangement of molecules.
COOH form allows to predict the behaviour of the molecule. It shows the functional group COOH Carboxylic , Where OH cannot be separated. This is the reason we can't write Acetic acid as C2H4O2.
