Answer:

In this process, the soil particles are loosened or washed away in the valleys, oceans, rivers, streams or far away lands. This has been worsening due to human activities such as agriculture and deforestation.

Soil erosion is a continuous process that occurs either slowly or at an alarming rate. It results in a continuous loss of topsoil, ecological degradation, soil collapse, etc.

the removal of soil by running wind and water is known as soil erosion. There areTher are many causes of soil erosion.

The major causes are-

  • Deforestation-The removal of trees on a large scale is known as deforestation. when trees are removed, soil particles are left loosen and can easily be carried away by running wind and water.
  • Overgrazing-Repeated grazing by animals on the same patch of land without sufficient recovery periods, leads to the removal of grass on a large scale. This makes it easy for wind and water to erode the soil.
  • Flood and heavy rainfall -Flood and heavy rainfall wash off the soil, especially when the there is no trees and the land is lying bare.
  • Impoper farming -Impoper faing on hills makes its easy for wind and water to erode soil.
