Answer:

0.12

Note:

★ HCF(a/b , p/q) = HCF(a , p) / LCM(b , q)

ie; HCF of two fractions is equal to the HCF of their numerators divided by LCM of their denominators.

★ LCM(a/b , p/q) = LCM(a , p) / HCF(b , q)

ie; LCM of two fractions is equal to the LCM of their numerators divided by HCF of their denominators.

★ To find the HCF or LCM of two decimal numbers , firstly convert them into fractions and then apply above formula.

Solution:

Here,

The given decimals are : 1.2 and 0.12

Now,

Fraction form of the given decimals will be ;12/10 and 12/100

Now,

HCF of Numerators = HCF(12 , 12) = 12

Also,

LCM of denominator = LCM(10 , 100) = 100

Thus,

HCF(1.2 , 0.12)

= HCF(12/10 , 12/100)

= HCF(12 , 12) / LCM(10 , 100)

= 12 / 100

= 0.12

Hence,

HCF of 1.2 and 0.12 is 0.12 .
