by the end of 1940, the german empire had spread vast. it was bordered by russia at east, italy in west, meditteranean sea at south and north sea at north. their forces crushed the defences of britain. luftwaffe nearly destroyed the capital of britain, london. thus, germany was the only super power at that time. hence, it was at the pinnacle of power.
