-x + y = 5 ....(4)

From equation (3) and (4)

we get,

2y = 6

y = 3

put y = 3 in equation (3)

we get,

x + y = 1

x + 3 = 1

x = -2

x +y = -2 + 3 = 1 = ANSWER
