Can you guess why fire extinguishers throw a stream of carbon dioxide while putting off fire

Carbon dioxide take off fire by displacing oxygen from the fire triangle besides carbon dioxide is also very cold so when it is released into the fire it cools down the fuel which caused the fire thus putting reducing it.
