mean =  \frac{sum of observations }{no. of observations}

____________________________________________

18 =  \frac{sum of 5 numbers}{5}

18 × 5 = sum of  numbers

90 = sum of numbers

_______________________________

when one number was excluded,

Mean =  \frac{sum  of   5   numbers - excluded number}{4}

16 =  \frac{90- excluded number}{4}

16 × 4 = 90 - excluded number

64 = 90 - excluded number

64 - 90=   -excluded number

-26 = -excluded number

26 = excluded number

i hope this will help you
