The state Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. Uttarakhand state was separated from Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, A new state Meghalaya was made separating the state of Assam.

Henegan state was formed separating from Andhra Pradesh. Arunachal state was formed separating from Assam. The state of Sikkim, which was a separate country, joined India as a state.the last one, was carved out of Bihar.
