As I boarded the deck the collosile vessel, I was smacked in the face by a gust of hot, humid Texas air. The once brisk morning was getting hotter by the second. My friend Kristi and I looked towards our left and there she was, the Norwegian Sea. The cruise liner that we would be on for the next week. It was the biggest ship I had ever seen up close. Ten stories high and nearly 1000 feet long. It had an intimidating presence that took one's breath away. 

Our parents had arranged for a cruise from Houston, Texas with stops at Cancun and Cozumel, Mexico. Then a one-day stop in Honduras and back to the U.S.A. 
I was quite excited about all of this. We had been planning this for months! And the best part was that there was going to be a scavenger hunt. No wonder we both were so excited. Everyone loves scavenger hunts.... And on a huge ship is like four times more fun!

BWe went to the reception to receive our card keys for our grand rooms. Kristi and I were given the key to our room. Thank god our parents had decided to get a third room just for us. Unfortunately, it was in a middle hallway, which meant no windows. We got to the door, Level 3--Room 3053, and our bags were sitting neatly outside the doorway. One swipe of the card key in the door and we threw the bags in. Time to explore the rest of the surroundings.

After a bit of playing hide and seek and eating a bunch of sandwiches, it was finally night time. The time we were awaiting since we boarded the ship. It was time for the scavenger hunt! Both of us rushed to the deck and saw a couple of other kids were waiting for us. A young lady was among them. I was quite sure that she was only present there to ask us the riddles. After some time we were divided into three groups, each with two kids. Of course my partner was Kristi.

The first riddle was - It is in the most important part of the ship beside the most important thing. The answer popped up in our head immediately. It was captain's cabin! And it must be beside the wheel! We rushed almost as fast as the wind and reached there at what felt like the blink of an eye for we had discovered it later in the day. And there it was! The shining dagger, it almost convinced me that it was real, but unfortunately it was a fake... We brought it back to the lady and she gave us a gold medal. But this time, it was real and not a fake like the dagger. The lady later told us that the dagger was a fake made after a real one. And then... A fantastic news was announced by her .

On hearing the news, we rushed to our parents to tell them. The smile on their face was unforgettable. They were so proud of us. Then we went to out bed, we couldn't sleep out of excitement for we couldn't get it out of our mind that we were going to San Francisco! First this cruise and then another exciting adventure on row. How fortunate! It was like a dream come true! And so... The summer passed by with excitement and memories which still flash back to me.
