In the modern world, the rulers are chosen with the help of votes given by the people.
They follow the democratic view of the country.
In the ancient time, a ruler was not chosen by the people as anyone who shows his power and proof that he is superior is given the power to be a king.

Now days, regular elections take place in villages which helps in promoting democracy in our country. But in earlier times, there was a ruler which controlled the village which did not help in democracy but it helped in monarchy system which went for a long time in our country in old times
