The electric geyser draws a current given by

 I = P/V = 2 kW/220V

= 2000W/220V = 9.09 A.

Thus, the electric geyser draws current much more than the current rating of 5 A. That is the circuit is overloaded. Due to excessive current. the fuse wire blows and the circuit is broken.

"No, we cannot run an electric geyser with power rating 2kW-220V on a 5A line.

Given:

Power, P=2 K W=2 \times 10^{3} W

Voltage, V = 220V

Current, I = 5A

Solution:

The current drawn by the geyser is given by

I_{g}=\frac{P}{V}

On substituting,

I_{g}=\frac{2 \times 10^{3}}{220}=9.09 A

Since, the line current is lower than the current drawn by the geyser, the circuit gets overloaded and the fuse wire burns out. Thus, we cannot run the electric geyser on a 5A line."
