Bacterias and microorganisms were found in the water as living things and as the earth cooled down gradually, its atmosphere becoming favourable to support several different and complex lifeforms, different species started appearing roaming the face of the planet. So it can be assumed that whale and bats all belong to a common ancestor as the first life that stirred in the deep waters of the oceans.
