\boxed {\underline  {\mathbb {GIVEN:-}}}

9 + 5 = 2

\boxed {\underline  {\mathbb {TO\:FIND:-}}}

to prove 9 + 5 = 2

\boxed {\underline  {\mathbb {SOLUTION:-}}}

it's obvious that

9+5 \neq 2

[also i guess your ma'am has played with your mind or she also don't know variable properly (just joking);]

so lets modify the equation the and equation will be \boxed {9+5=2+x}

let's the number to be added be x so that L.H.S.=R.H.S.

by soling the new equation we get

9+5=2+x

14=2+x [ ← added 9+5 which is on L.H.S. that gives 14 ]

14-2=x [ ← bringing 2 from R.H.S. to L.H.S. so it get -2 ]

x=12

now,

putting value in equation we get

9+5=2+x

9+5=2+14 [ ← putted value in equation ]

\boxed {14=14}

hence LHS=RHS

Note:-

your ma'am had either tricked you out or she forgotten variable adding in your question

if i had to solve 9 + 5 = 2

than it would we 14=20=2-140=-12 or 12=0
