CaO and SO2 are two oxides. Name the oxide that will react with a base, giving reasons.

SO2 will react with base because it is acidic in nature.

SO2 is a non metallic oxide and hence it is acidic in nature. Thus, Acid will react with base.


CaO is a metallic oxide and hence it is basic is in nature which means that base will not react with base.


From above two statements, we can conclude that SO2 which is acidic in nature will react with a base.
