Car A of mass 1500Kg travelling at 25 m/s collides with another car B of mass 1000Kg travelling at 15 m/s in the same direction. After collision, the velocity of car A becomes 20 m/s. Calculate the velocity of car B after collision.

hey here is your answer

mA = 1500kg mB = 1000kg
velocities before collision = vA1 = 25m/s & vB1= 15m/s
velocities after collision = vA2 = 20m/s & vB2 = ?

by conservation of momentum

MV = mAvA1 + mBvB1
(mA+mB)(vA2+vB2) = 1500*25 + 1000*15
2500*20 + 2500*vB2 = 37500+15000
50000+2500*vB2 = 52500
2500*vB2 = 52500-50000
2500*vB2 = 2500
vB2 = 2500/2500
vB2 = 1 m/s

hope it helps
have a good day ☺
