carbon is more reactive than copper but less reactive than calcium.so Carbon can reduce copper oxide to copper but not cao to ca.

Carbon is more reactive element than copper so it displaces copper from copper oxide but calcium is more reactive element than carbon so carbon does not displaces calcium from calcium oxide.So carbon can reduce copper oxide to copper but not calcium oxide to calcium
