Carbon compounds are poor conductor of electricity because if a compound is made up of one or two covalent bonds then they are poor Conductor of electricity.

Electricity is conducted by moving of electron in particular direction.In case of carbon compound ,those are formed by covelent bond,which don't easily break after applying voltage.Hence conduction of electricity is not take place easily in carbon compound.
