Carbon monoxide is produced when fuel is burnt
with insufficient amount of oxygen. In excessive
amount, this becomes harmful to humans.
Because,
(i) It blocks the transmission of signals in the
nervous system.
(ii) It causes irritation in the respiratory system.
(iii) It damages the kidney and prevents
secretion of waste from the body.
(iv) It binds with haemoglobin and disturbs the
circulation of oxygen in the body.
(v) It is very poisonous gas.
(vi) if co levels are high enough, you may
become unconscious or die.
