Answer:

card marked with no.2 to 51 placed in the box

S=(2,3,4.......,51) n(s)=51

let A be the event that the card drawn be the number taken out is a perfect square

A=(1,4,9,16,25,36,49)

n(a)=7

the probability of event a is p(a)=n(a)÷n(s)

p(a)=7÷51

Given: Card marked with numbers 2 to 51

To Find: Probability of drawing a card with a perfect square

Solution:

Card marked with numbers 2 to 51 are placed in the box

Total number of cards = 50( including 2 and 51)

Perfect squares lying between 2 to 51 = 6 (4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49)

Probability of an event = No. of favourable outcomes / Total no. of outcomes

Here, the event is drawing a card with a perfect square

No. of favourable outcomes = 6

Total no. of outcomes = 50

Probability = \frac{6}{50}

                  = \frac{3}{25}

Therefore, the probability of drawing a card with a perfect square is 3/25.
