First Stanza:

The first stanza is about the ship quinquireme which is an ancient ship. The area it is surrounded by has the civilization of ancient people.

Second Stanza:

The second stanza is about the Spanish ship which sails from the Isthmus of Panama.

Third stanza:

The third stanza is about the empire in late Britain. British established their empire hundred years after Spanish and Portuguese already had.
