TWO DIGIT NUMBER
20. A two digit number is written in the form of an algebraic expression is shown.
10x + y
When x is digit at tens place and y is at unit place.
(a) "The tens digit is three times the unit digit." The linear equation representing the above situation is
() x + 3y = 0
(ii) x-3y = 3
+ 3y - 2
(h) 1-3y = 0
(b) "When number is decreased by 54, the digits are reversed. Then new number formed is
()+60
(1) x + y + 6 = 0
(HP) -- 650
(v) -x-y-6=0
(c) Digitat tens place is
(i) 3
(ii) 6
(iv) 10

Answer:
(a) x-3y = 0
(b) 39
(c) 3
Step-by-step explanation:
Number = 10x+y
Since ten's digit is thrice the one's digit,
x=3y
=> x-3y = 0 ..(i)
When the number is reduced by 54, it is reversed,
10x+y-54 = 10y+x
=> 9x-9y = 54
=> x-y = 6 ..(ii)
Solving for (i) and (ii)
3y-y = 6
=> y = 3
and x = 3x3 = 9
Original number, 10x+y = 93
