Students with learning disabilities often view themselves as unable to write. A writing process classroom can alter this perception. The author presents a description of a writing process classroom at work and discusses four categories of experience, common to all writing process classrooms, that contributed to the progress of a student with learning disabilities: (a) a sense of a community of learners, (b) control of one's writing, (c) collaborative and independent problem solving, and (d) opportunities for generalization and transfer of learning.
